Equestrian Centre

Bryanston Equestrian Centre was established approximately 20 years ago and since then has undergone considerable expansion in terms of facilities, the number of pupils riding and horses kept at livery.

The 25 stables form part of the original Bryanston House designed by Wyatt in the mid-18th century and form an attractive horseshoe shape around a central courtyard.

The Equestrian Centre facilities consist of:

  • a newly refurbished 35m x 75m outdoor arena

  • 20m x 35m outdoor arena

  • 35m x 20m indoor school

  • cross country schooling fields with fences ranging from 2ft to 3ft 3in

  • full set of show jumps

  • extensive hacking

Riding at Bryanston

The Equestrian Centre is available to all pupils who would like the opportunity to participate in a weekly ride on well trained school horses, under the supervision of BHS qualified coaches. The aim is to provide quality training from beginner riders to those pupils who want to advance their equestrian skills.

Pupils who have their horses on a full livery ride as their sport (from the C year). Coaching is provided in group lessons on a daily basis, training horses and riders towards all equestrian disciplines. All riders are encouraged to compete, and teams go out on a regular basis to represent Bryanston at inter-schools competitions.

The National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) is the governing body for school events; here at Bryanston we host a jumping with style (JwS) and pure jumping qualifiers each year, and a mix of schools join us for these prestigious competitions. We pride ourselves on our staging of these events, which are held in our beautiful walled garden, striving to bring all school pupils together, with the horses they are passionate about, in a unique sporting activity. Other competitions held at the Equestrian Centre include unaffiliated internal competitions.

Pupils who compete at affiliated competitions such as BSJ, BD and BE are fully supported by the Equestrian Centre coaches who have experience in all areas. Those pupils who enter singularly for such competitions will need the additional support of their parents to take them to the relevant events.

Keeping a horse at Bryanston

The Equestrian Centre is small and unique. We provide high quality care and attention to all horses liveried with us. Our staff are friendly, helpful and most of all, experienced.

There are two options of keeping a horse with us - sole use livery or a working livery. Please email for more information regarding livery contract terms and conditions. Alternatively phone 01258 484565.

The Equestrian Centre Manager, Sophie Starr, will be more than happy to discuss all aspects of being part of the Equestrian Centre, whether as a weekly rider or a livery owner.
