Harvest Festival supports local food bank
At the recent harvest festival service, Bryanston’s church was filled with tins, packets and other food items as the school celebrated and gave thanks for the gifts of this year’s harvest.
Each house had been given a basket for food donations from staff, parents and pupils and these were used to decorate the church. The display was topped off by a beautiful harvest loaf, baked by kitchen chef Stuart.
This year the school's chaplain, the Rev’d Andrew Haviland, and volunteers delivered all the gifts (a total of 22 crates) to the Blandford Food Bank, a local group who support people who are at the point of crisis. Since January they have helped over 300 local families.
The Rev'd Haviland said, "It was a marvellous way to celebrate the harvest here at school. The church looked wonderful and I am extremely grateful for everyone who contributed to all the amazing array of food we had on display."
