Chamber musicians head to Cornwall for music tour

On Friday 24 March, five Bryanston chamber musicians headed to Cornwall to begin their three-day music tour.

The chamber pieces performed were movements from Dvorak’s American string quartet and Shostakovich’s piano quintet. Pupils also performed a range of solo pieces on violin, viola, cello, organ, piano and voice.

The first performance was on Saturday morning in St Just Church, which is situated in the semitropical and idyllic location of Roseland. Bryanston pupils received a warm welcome and performed to an appreciative audience. Afterwards, there was time to relax by the beach and paddle in the sea before walking down to St Mawes for lunch overlooking the harbour.

Pupils then headed to a bustling Landers Gallery in Truro to perform amongst art work and people enjoying a cup of tea in the café. They then had chance to do a spot of shopping before heading to Restronguet Creek for an evening meal.

Trelissick House was a suitably grand final performance venue for the Sunday morning, and the chamber music came across particularly well in this setting. All too soon, it was time to reluctantly head home. It was an incredible few days and we will cherish the happy memories of wonderful music making, excellent food and hospitality combined with perfect spring weather.

Particular thanks go to Mr and Mrs Frostwick who accommodated us all and were central in helping book venues and planning the tour.
