David Newton Trio sends audience home with feet tapping
Published: 22 February 2017
On Friday 10 February the David Newton Trio treated an enthusiastic audience to an evening of jazz.
The ensemble played material from their latest Big Screen album and a selection of jazz standards, including Alice in Wonderland, Hello Young Lovers and Emily. To end the concert In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning morphed brilliantly into an up-tempo Blues to send people home with their feet tapping.
The trio was made up of Dave on piano, Chris Hill on bass and Matt Skelton on drums. It was fabulous for our pupils to witness a top jazz trio at work, especially the apparent telepathy between players during the improvisation sections of the numbers they played.
