Lively and enjoyble Junior Ensemble Concert

The Rhythm and Blues Band, coached by Dugald Clark, started with two cracking pieces, Tears Dry On Their Own by Amy Winehouse and Lady Marmalade by Crewe/Nolan. The performers were: Georgina A and, Nicola H on flute; Adrian C, James B, Darcy H, George O’R, Katharine O, Lotte T, Millicent VG, Molly P, William E, Charles E and Max B on alto saxophone; Jack S on guitar; Sebastian H on bass guitar; James R on piano; James E on drums; and Carolina B, Isabelle D and Lotte T on vocals.

The String Group followed with Little Tango arr. David Johnstone/Bryony Moody and coached by Bryony Moody. The performers were: Sophia L, Serena F, Violet W, Rosanagh B and Adam S. The C Saxophone Quartet followed with La Rejouissance by Handel. The players were: Adrian C, James B, Arthur G, Johhny M. The Flute Group, coached by Sarah Beales, played the expressive piece Distant Stars by Geoffrey Walker. It was performed by Annabelle C, Arabella C, Ella R, Cara K, Nicola H, Georgina A, Tamara CR and on Lucy D on alto flute.

A new D Band played Do I wanna know by Arctic Monkeys. Mr Shaughnessy standing in at the last moment for Alex T on guitar who hurt his hand in rugby, Charles H on bass, Ben S on drums and Eleanor P on vocals. The Recorder Duo followed with a polished and charming performance of Trio Sonata: Preludio – Allemande by Boismortier. Well done to Francesca G and Naima H accompanied by Mr Scott.

The first outing for the Intermediate Brass Group came next with Tony Waller at the helm for March from Aida arranged by Walton. May P, Jude P, James N, James R, Felix H, Alistair H, Royce C on trumpet, Arthur G, Euphonium: Monar S and Tuba: George P on horn. The Intermediate Saxophone Quartet ended the concert with a performance of Tin Roof Blues by Mares/Pollock. Sophie FH, Ella H, Wilfred H, Millicent VG.
