C Scholars Concert

A superb C Scholars Concert took place in the Elder Concert Hall on Wednesday 4 November at 8.15pm.

Freddie F started the concert with a performance of Chopin’s Waltz on the piano. Luca S played Sonata for Trumpet: Sarabande by Hubeau on the trumpet. Sumei B-S performed Sonata in D: Allegro by Hoffmeister on the flute. Clara W played Grovlez’ Sarabande on the clarinet. Katharine S performed Indian Pony Dance by Glover on the piano. Freddie returned to perform the violin piece Salut d’Amour by Elgar. Sumei also returned to play Debussy’s Bruyères on the piano. Katharine S performed Aus der Heimat: Andantino – moderato by Smetana. Luca returned to play the Raindrop Prelude by Chopin on the piano. Sumei returned for a third time to sing I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud by Thiman.

This was a seriously high-calibre concert by the C Scholars who demonstrated wonderful progress from the previous year, as well as taking the step up to performing in the concert hall with confidence and wonderful musicality on show. It was lovely to hear so many of the Scholars perform second studies too, as well as seeing so many pupil supporters at the concert. Our usual thanks to the accompanists, Caroline Clipsham, William Ings, Graham Scott and Matthew Shenton.
