Classics trip to reconstructed Romano-Celtic settlement

A group of C classicists travelled to Bradford Peverell to discover more about the Romans in Britain. Read Jasmine S' report of the trip here.

On Tuesday week 7 we went to the Field Barn Centre in Bradford Peverell, where there is a reconstructed Romano-Celtic settlement.

During the day we attended a number of workshops, where we turned grain into flour, made poultices from plantain weed for healing wounds and we took our turn at stamping 1st century AD coins.

After learning about the Romans' arrival in Britain and their fearful attack on Boudicca and the Iceni, Sumei and Freddie tried on some very heavy Roman armour.

The trip was rounded off with a visit to Wagamamas for supper where we discussed the highlights of the day.
