OB and music producer Jake Gosling returns to school

On Tuesday 21 March, we welcomed OB Jake Gosling (Connaught 1993) back to Bryanston.  Jake is a high-profile music producer and songwriter and best known for his work with artists such as Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Paloma Faith, Wiley, Shawn Mendes and many more.

A small selection of aspiring singer/songwriters from The Blandford School, Queen Elizabeth, Sturminster Newton High School as well as Bryanston took part in workshops, during which they were able to have some one-to-one time with Jake in the recording studio.

This was an amazing opportunity for the pupils involved, as they received valuable, constructive feedback, plus help and advice on structuring and shaping their song for today's pop industry.  Jake and the pupils were also supported by a drummer, bass player/guitarist and pianist to ensure they had full backing when they were recording their songs.

Lucy, Head of Performing and Creative Arts from The Blandford School, said, “The whole day was fantastic, the experience is something they will remember forever and no doubt have a huge impact on their progression into the music industry.”

At the end of the day there was an open Q&A session, during which Jake talked about his journey into the music world, including how he got to work with such well-known artists.

We are very grateful to Jake for giving his time so generously and sharing his knowledge and experience with pupils throughout the day.
