Business breakfast with Carolyn Fairbairn

On 21 February Bryanston held its third Beyond Bryanston business breakfast for OBs, hosted by Blackrock and with OB and Director General of the CBI, Carolyn Fairbairn, as keynote speaker.

Addressing more than 50 OB business people, Carolyn Fairbairn gave great insight on how businesses are working to make a success of Brexit. She talked about where business globally is now and says that Bryanston’s school motto (et nova et vetera) seems very apt.

Attendees, ranging from CEOs and managing directors of multi-national companies to fresh-faced graduates, listened intently to what she had to say about the recent talks at Davos and current government thinking on business, the challenges faced by British businesses in relation to nurturing talent and the important role that liberalism in education and business will have in fostering creative thinking to bring about successful solutions. She also outlined the need for investment in areas outside London and infrastructure.

The Beyond Bryanston business breakfast was hosted by Tim Webb of Blackrock at their offices in the City.  Blackrock’s Vice Chairman, Philipp Hildebrand gave an introductory talk outlining the current position for financial institutions globally and the theme of both speakers was one of cautious optimism for the future.

At the end of the brief talks, some serious networking got underway and we are delighted to hear that a number of useful connections were made.

Bryanston would like to thank Carolyn Fairbairn, Philipp Hildebrand, Tim Webb and Blackrock for their generosity in supporting the Beyond Bryanston business breakfasts.

Our next Beyond Bryanston business breakfast will take place on 10 May 2017 in London with guest speaker, entrepreneur Rupert Swallow. You can register for the event here.

We are looking for Beyond Bryanston business breakfasts hosts who would be willing to hold a business breakfast at their offices in the London area.  If you are interested, please contact Amanda Lovejoy on asl@bryanston.co.uk
