End-of-term musical events at Bryanston Knighton House

Term ended with our Carol Service in Bryanston Church, and it was such a delight after having to miss it entirely last year.

Pupils have made phenomenal progress with their choral singing, building up again from absolutely nothing, due to Covid lockdowns. All pupils sang a verse of a carol beautifully, the Juniors sang in two-part harmony and the Senior Choir sang in four parts, as well as thrilling us with two soaring descants.

Many thanks to the Bryanston team for working with us in addition to their two Carol Services, especially Mr Ings, Mr Bourne and Rev Davis, whose professionalism was greatly appreciated in the smooth running of our service.

Congratulations to the ABRSM exam candidates (Elinor, Wilf, Rosie, James) who all achieved high passes of more than 75% in these rigorous international exams which test sightreading, scales, aural and performance. At least six months of daily work goes towards each of these exams which are assessed in about 12 minutes by an experienced examiner. Special congratulations to Eliza who was awarded Merit (over 80%) for her initial piano exam.

Our first indoor school concert for so long (the two last terms were outdoors and involved only a bubble of performers) was attended by a hugely appreciative audience of parents and grandparents in the JB Hall. It featured both choirs (who also sang for two church services in the last three weeks of term) and a confident collection of soloists on violin, cello, flute, piano, voice, viola.

The polished and professional performance attitude that we nourish at BKH was a delight to see again after too long in front of screens. It is built upon the supportive atmosphere that permeates BKH where every effort and achievement is remarked upon and valued. Congratulations to all.
