C/D Music Scholars' Concert

The C and D music scholars put on a wonderful concert with the D pupils performing as soloists for the first time at a Scholars' Concert.

They all performed with professionalism and great ability, providing the appreciative audience with a lovely evening of music.

Nikolas L began the concert with the second movement of Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in Eb Major followed by Iona M playing Bach’s Arioso on the cello. Lingling BS sang Heart, the Seat of Soft Delight by Handel and later in the concert played Copeland’s lively Hoe Down on the violin. Poppy OE played Binge’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone – 2nd Movement and May P performed the second movement of Concerto de Aramjuez by Rodrigo on the trumpet. Nikolas L performed again, this time on the piano playing Debussy’s La Cathédrale Engloutie followed by Daniel L playing Smoke gets in your eyes by Harbach on the trombone. Will S played Himes’ Concertino – movement 1 on the flugel horn followed by a second performance from May P playing Earl’s At Miss Florence’s on the piano. Theo B played Sonata No.3 – Allegro  by Vivaldi on the tuba and Poppy OE returned to play Franck’s Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Major.  Luke S finished the concert with the clarinet piece Sonatina, movement III, Furioso by Arnold.

Thank you to all of the new D scholars, the C scholars and the accompanists Christina Scott, Graham Scott and Matthew Shenton.
