A level pupil produces a remarkable evening of music

A2 Music Scholar, Sophia E, gave a stunning recital of her ATCL programme in preparation for her diploma exam

A large and supportive audience turned up to hear her play a wonderful range of music on Wednesday 8 February 2017 in the Elder Concert Hall. The whole recital was expertly accompanied by Mr Scott.

Sophia started the recital with Bach’s Sonata No.4 BWV 1033: Andante – Presto, Allegro, Adagio, Minuet I, Minuet II. She followed this with Light of Sothis by Amy Quate; the piece is made up of three movements: Grace, Passion, and Faith. She played the contrasting Caprice for Alto Saxophone & Piano, Op. 119 by Derek Bourgeois and followed this with Prélude et Salterelle for Alto Saxophone & Piano by Robert Planel. Sophia finished with an incredible performance of Piazzolla’s Tango-Études No.1.

Huge congratulations to Sophia on producing a remarkable and highly memorable evening of music.
