Head Girl Poppy T awarded ABRSM Singing Diploma

Music scholar and Head Girl Poppy T has achieved nearly full marks in her Singing Diploma. This exam is in the highest category of professional qualifications from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. It is a great achievement for a young singer.

Poppy had to perform a substantial recital of songs encompassing a range of styles and languages. The examiner’s comments praised Poppy’s individual musical strengths, her communication skills and the overall commitment and expression in her singing.

Head of Singing Amy Dickinson commented: “We are delighted for Poppy. She worked hard for this award and it is a magnificent testament to her musicianship and her expressiveness as a singer.”

Poppy commented: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Rowntree for teaching me for the last five years, and for getting me involved in so many opportunities which have paved the way to so many more. I would also like to thank Mr Ings and Mr Clark for the confidence that Dance Band and Soul Band have given me, not just on stage but in everyday life. And more recently of course my thanks and appreciation to Miss Dickinson and Mr Andrews for their support and leadership.

“Finally, and most importantly, I would like to say thank you to my friends. There was a crowd at every single performance, and they were always so supportive and encouraging. I never thought singing could impact so many parts of my life, but I know my time at Bryanston would have looked very different without it!”
