Junior scholarships

Scholarships are awarded annually to particularly talented children who will be assessed through tests, exams and observations. They may also be interviewed by a range of staff and references from current schools will be required.

Scholarships may be awarded either for a high level of attainment and future potential or for specialist aptitude in a particular area.

Junior Scholarships are for pupils entering into year 9 at Bryanston. A significant number of scholarships are awarded each year.

Scholarships available

Academic

Bryanston's unique academic system allows academically gifted pupils to develop their intellectual profile by challenging themselves in a number of ways: inside the classroom through the curriculum; with their tutor in the weekly one-to-one tutorial; and also through the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes.

Art

Art scholarship candidates should have a creative commitment to art, showing a lively interest in the subject and possessing strong observational drawing and recording skills.

Computer Science

Candidates for the computer science scholarship should exhibit three key qualities: an innate curiosity and inquisitiveness about digital technology and its potential to shape our lives; a strong technical ability in the subject, including logical thinking, problem solving and programming and an enthusiasm  for communicating the power of digital technology to their peers.

Design & Technology

D&T scholarship candidates should be able to demonstrate a real interest in design and have impressive graphical and/or technical skills.

Music

A generous number of music scholarships are offered each year for outstanding ability in any orchestral instrument, piano or organ. Candidates are expected to show high levels of engagement, musicianship and musicality.

Performing Arts

Bryanston has always had a proud tradition of excellence in the Performing Arts. Scholarships are open to any pupils who show particular talent and enthusiasm in this area.

Richard Hunter All-Rounder

The Richard Hunter all-rounder scholarships are awarded to candidates who possess the talents and personal qualities necessary to make a significant and ongoing contribution to the busy extra-curricular life at Bryanston.

Sport

To be considered for an award, a sports scholarship candidate should show sporting talent alongside positivity, coachability, capacity for growth and prospective leadership potential.

We are interested in sportspeople with talent in:

  • One or more of our core sports of rugby, football, hockey, netball, rowing, cricket & equestrianism
  • Any other sporting discipline* (please discuss opportunities with us in advance of application).

*We have the desire and capability to support and nourish individual aspirational sportspeople in all disciplines, with an expectation that sport scholars at 13+ will represent Bryanston in our core sports.

All 13+ scholars will be supported by our scholar programme, with Sport Scholars that includes PSP (Performance Sport Programme) sessions, mentoring and external workshops, to ensure they are able to flourish.
