Ensemble Concert

The Ensemble Concert took place on Wednesday 29 June at 8.15pm in the Elder Concert Hall

The Concerto Orchestra started the concert with Head of Strings, Christina Scott, conducting. They played Suite for Strings: Rondeau by Purcell and Correli’s Concerto Grosso in G minor Op 6, No 8: Allegro. The players were Christopher A, Sophia L, Hannah C, Oscar BP, Rosanagh B, Elsa W and Violet W. The Flute Group followed with Bohemian Rhapsody by Freddie Mercury arranged by Zoe B and Sarah B. The flautists were Arabella C, Nicola H, Ella R, Cara K, Isabel F, Georgina A, Tamara CR and Lucy D. The Baroque Ensemble performed Sonata in D minor: Largo & Allegro by Corelli – the performers were Francesca G, Naima H, Serena F and Frederick F on the harpsichord.

The C Saxophone Quartet played Don't Get Around Much Anymore by Duke Ellington. The saxophonists were Adrian C, James B, Arthur G and John M. Poppy H, Samantha H and India S performed Moszkowski’s Suite in G minor Op 71: Lento assai. Kate S gave a solo performance of Bruch’s Concerto in G minor: Adagio. The Brass Group played Rhumba by Bruce Fraser. The brass players were Luca S, Nikolas L, May P, George D, Rory H, Daniel L and George P. The Clarinet Quintet performed Tico Tico by Zequinha Abreu. The clarinetists were Cairo F, Bertrand EW, Clara W, Manon F and Luke S. A final chamber group performed Dvorak’s Quartet in F major Op 96: Lento. The performers were Katharine S, Frederick F, Eric H and Evangeline C.

Under the direction of Isabel White, Amaris Choir ended the concert with a lovely performance of Karl Jenkins' Adiemus.
