Easy listening concert
An informal Easy Listening Concert took place at lunchtime on Thursday 3 March in the recital room and included performances by a number of new groups.
The concert started with Sway arranged by Marrilia performed by the Intermediate Saxophone Quartet made up of Bertrand E-W on soprano saxophone, Dugald Clark on alto saxophone, Wilf H on tenor saxophone and Millicent VG on baritone saxophone.
A new beginner D string group performed Scarborough Fair arranged by Bryony Moody; the performers were Henry H and Felix B-S on the violin and Laura L and Charlotte B on the viola. This was followed by a new intermediate flute group, conducted by Sarah Beales, with two pieces, Bourée by Di Fabrio and El Gaucho by J Wanders. The flautists were Imogen M, Kali K, Charlotte B, Naima H, Katrina F and Katia M.
Another newly formed group, the Concerto Orchestra, performed Concerto Grosso in G minor Op 6, No 8: Vivace by Corelli, conducted by Christina Scott. The performers were Derek N, Christopher A, Sophia L, and Hannah C on violin 1; Oscar B and Rosanagh B on violin 2; Anne FH, Elsa W (who kindly stepped in at the last minute) and Violet W on cello. The C boys’ saxophone quartet were Adrian C, James B, Arthur G and John M and they ended the concert with Mission Impossible arranged by Marrilia.
