Outdoor Education thrives at Bryanston

It’s been an exciting year for the Outdoor Education department already with record numbers of pupils getting involved in a whole variety of activities Bryanston has to offer.
The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award has proved extremely popular; three quarters of the C year group are now registered, with their skill and physical sections well underway. Dave Simpson, in charge of Outdoor Education, said, ‘It’s fantastic to see so many pupils getting involved in the Bronze Award this year. I’m looking forward to working with them over the next few months as they develop new skills and self-awareness that they can use in other areas of their lives.’
Selection for the Ten Tors expedition is set to be the most competitive yet with over 20 pupils vying for one of six final team positions. Training will be underway across the next term in preparation for the main event, which will see the group taking on the challenge of a 35-mile expedition alongside 2,500 other young people across Dartmoor in the spring.
Gold Duke of Edinburgh preparation has also begun, and the climbing cohort have already unleashed their talent with a visit to the local bouldering centre in Poole.
There is plenty to get involved with and many more adventures to come!
