Pupils battle poor weather to complete Gold Duke of Edinburgh expeditions

All of the pupils faced extremely tough conditions during their expeditions. In July they experienced torrential downpours and struggled to keep sleeping bags dry after three days of non-stop rain. All of the teams camped in the same place on the last night and enjoyed a campfire to finally dry out some of their equipment. In September pupils battled with navigating in thick hill fog through steep mountain terrain, and had to keep their morale up in what was another wet four days.

The pupils were self-sufficient over the four days of the Snowdonia expedition; navigating, cooking and camping as part of a team. This is tough challenge to complete by anyone’s standard, and not helped by the rather poor weather the UK experienced this summer.

They should be very proud of their achievement. Congratulations to all involved!
