Bryanston pupils mark Holocaust Memorial Day

On 27 January all D pupils at Bryanston, along with a number from the sixth form, marked the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz with a special assembly.

We were pleased to welcome Rabbi Adrian Jesner, a regular visitor to the school, who led the assembly along with the School Chaplain, Reverend Andrew Haviland. Before starting his compelling talk, Rabbi Jesner together with pupils lit seven candles to mark the seven decades since the liberation of Auschwitz.

During the assembly pupils heard how the lessons of Auschwitz are still relevant today; that when you see something that is not right, whatever it is, you have to speak out. Rabbi Jesner reminded those listening that the challenge today, 70 years on from the liberation of Auschwitz, is to not walk away and say it is not my affair, but that it is up to every individual to improve the world.

We would like to thank Rabbi Adrian Jesner for his time and look forward to welcoming him to Bryanston again soon
