Bryanston rated 'Excellent' in latest ISI Inspection

The inspection team were on site for three days and during this time, examined all areas of school life, including observations of lessons and co-curricular activities. Formal interviews were conducted with pupils (over 200 pupils sat down and spoke with the inspectors) and staff, and samples of pupils' work across the prep and senior departments were carefully examined. Questionnaires from pupils, parents and staff were analysed, and there was a thorough scrutiny of policies and documentation.

We were rated ‘Excellent’ across the board; the top ‘descriptor’ an independent school can be awarded. Such an accolade across the board is increasingly hard to come by and is a resounding endorsement that the Bryanston Method ensures our pupils fulfil their academic potential.

Head Richard Jones, commented: "I was delighted that the inspectors recognised, and commended, so many different areas of Bryanston life. We pride ourselves on the breadth of all-round education on offer here and the inspectors were keen to celebrate that."

Within the ISI report, there are many positive comments about: standards of teaching and academic progress, pastoral care, impressive pupil behaviour, extra-curricular breadth, leadership and management, food, environmental awareness, community outreach, pupils’ communications skills, and a strong and distinctive whole school ethos.  

Richard continued: "After two challenging years, achieving ‘excellent’ has been our goal; not with the aim of impressing inspectors, but because we passionately believe every pupil at Bryanston deserves nothing less than an excellent all-round education. This has been, and remains, our motivation. At the same time, no school is perfect and there are some useful pointers that we will incorporate into our future plans."
