The ‘sleep out’ is taking place on the playing fields at The Blandford School, a fellow member of the Blandford Schools’ Network. A number of our part-time catering team, all of whom are in the Sixth Form at The Blandford School, are taking part in the campaign. They’ll be spending a night in cardboard shelters alongside other fundraisers.

Catering Assistant Izzy commented: “It’s a good time to do the charity sleep out, just before the winter sets in. We care, and it’s a good thing to get involved in, and I feel there has been a rise in homelessness in the local area.”

A spokesperson for the YMCA commented: “These events are opportunities for individuals and organisations to help us raise vital funds to support our work helping rough sleepers secure accommodation and a positive long-term future”.

Since YMCA Sleep Easy events began in 2010, over £1 million has been raised across the UK.

Catering team member Kayleigh commented: “We are all keen to take part and raise as much money as possible. Over the years, the YMCA has made it a priority to help towards preventing and reducing homelessness. Any sponsorship would be hugely appreciated, not to mention that it helps raise awareness amongst the younger generations about homelessness.”

Ruairi commented: “I am looking forward to taking part in the charity campaign because homelessness is a major issue and is overlooked by most people and needs to be addressed.”

Bryanston staff taking part in the ‘sleep out’, include: Erin, Kayleigh, Ella, Evie, Izzy and Molly (pictured), as well as Toby, William, Harry, Ruairi, Poppy, Amelia and Fearn. Eve who works in our Sports Centre is also taking part.
