A2s complete Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Our A2 pupils have successfully completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

The expedition was based on the Isle of Purbeck rather than the usual mountains of Snowdonia, and pupils enjoyed a full exploration of the best of southern Dorset.

Head of Outdoor Education Mr Curry commented: “Two pupils from the group finished the expedition during day two due to injuries and exhaustion, demonstrating the level of challenge and only making it more impressive for those that were able to finish.

“A damp four days ensured that those involved worked hard to stay on top of their personal admin, health and kit management, not to mention the navigation and physical challenges.”

At the end of the expedition, pupils and staff celebrated by raising a glass to the Duke of Edinburgh, toasting his incredible legacy and the opportunities he paved the way for for so many young people.

Mr Curry added: “We were delighted to also be able to offer the opportunity to take part to the Head Girl at Talbot Heath School, Francesca R. She contacted me explaining that she wanted to complete the expedition, so joined some of her friends and excelled herself – a fantastic individual.”
