Paddling from the Scilly Isles to Land’s End in aid of Parkinson’s UK

Congratulations to Bryanston sixth former Mungo M on completing a gruelling open ocean paddle to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

Rather than relaxing over the summer holidays after finishing his GCSE exams, Mungo  spent many hours training for and completing a 28-mile journey by kayak across Atlantic waters from the Scilly Isles to Land’s End. Along the way he also raised over £1,200 for Parkinson’s UK.

Planning and training for this incredible feat started over a year ago for Mungo and his father, who completed the journey alongside him, and ended with an 11-hour crossing in August. In 1965 Mungo’s grandfather, who suffers from Parkinson’s and is also the motivation for this attempt, was in the first kayak to successfully make this journey. Mungo is now the youngest paddler to have completed the crossing in a single kayak and three generations of his family have successfully paddled this stretch of water.

Well done to Mungo (and his father) on an amazing achievement.
