Visiting artists inspire Bryanston pupils

Over the past three weeks, Bryanston’s Art Department has welcomed a number of visiting artists, each of whom has worked with a different year group.
The first visit was from Ian Murphy, an established artist who is passionate about sharing his technical skills as well as his enthusiasm. Ian ran a terrific workshop with C pupils, sharing a number of techniques with them before pupils tried them out for themselves.
Old Bryanstonian Beatrice von Preussen returned to school to spend time with the D pupils who have chosen to study Art for GCSE from next year. Beatrice’s work is inspired by the natural world and she works with Battersea Park Children’s Zoo, The Natural History Museum, and The Sussex Wildlife Trust. During her workshops pupils explored a number of techniques to produce a range of nature-themed pieces.
Finally, A3 artists took part in a Royal Academy workshop day, learning and refining their life drawing skills with an experienced Royal Academy of Arts tutor.
We would like to thank each of these artists for taking the time to share their experience and techniques so willingly with our pupils and we look forward to seeing some of the newly acquired skills in our pupils’ future work.
