A2 Charities Day 2020

Image of United World SchoolsTaking place on Sunday 1 March, this year's A2 Charities Day is in aid of African Vision Malawi, a charity dedicated to empowering the people of Malawi so that they can become self-sufficient. Malawi has the highest rate of pre-term births in the world, 18.1%: due to mothers having persistent malaria, HIV and malnourishment. With this in mind we have chosen to raise money for the 'A Child is Born' project run by African Vision Malawi. A project devoted to building a Safe Motherhood Unit, with the aim of creating a safe and comfortable place for mothers and their newborn babies.

With your help we aim to raise a total of £20,000 which will be used to build an extension to a Maternity Unit, which will allow mothers to arrive three weeks before labour, and to stay (with their newborns) after labour too, so that they can access medical attention and information during one of the most crucial stages of motherhood.

This is an incredible charity which will use 100% of what we raise to complete this project in Malawi, so every donation you give will go directly to building this much-needed Waiting Unit. The Bryanston family are driven to make a difference and leave a lasting impact on those who are far less fortunate than ourselves.

The Weekend

There will be various entertainment and activities for you to enjoy and help us reach our vision of helping the mothers of Malawi.

Whole School Challenge

The whole School challenge was an immense success last year, we had people running half marathons, practising a musical instrument for a bit every day, or even reading for an hour or so each day. The challenge, which is open to all pupils and staff, is to set a goal for yourself and to find sponsors to support you.

If you would like to support our efforts, you can download the sponsorship form here or visit:, quoting ‘Whole School Challenge’.

A2 Family and Friends Lunch

As is the tradition for the A2 Charities Weekend, we are once again hosting an A2 Family and Friends Lunch to which you are warmly invited. It is a great occasion that includes a two-course meal (with two glasses of wine) and afternoon tea on the terrace while enjoying the fantastic Dog Show.

Alongside the high quality of the food served, the lunch is organised and decorated by pupils. Therefore, it is a great opportunity to enjoy an amazing meal and support the year-group members.

Tickets are priced at £25 per head.
