Richard Jones

Head

Richard joined Bryanston in September 2020 as Second Master and was appointed Acting Head in 2021, and appointed Head of Bryanston at the end of the Spring term 2022.

Before Bryanston, he was a housemaster at Canford, and St John’s, Leatherhead. He came into teaching from a career in business, and he teaches Business and Economics. He is a governor of a state school in Southwest London, and a director of a multi-academy trust. He recently completed his Masters in Educational Leadership.

Richard commented: “I joined Bryanston at a moment when we thought we were all going back to something like normal. Nothing could have been further from the truth. I was asked then about my first impressions of Bryanston. There were many, but two stand out. I said, ‘I have been more impressed with the pupils here than I have been at any of my previous schools.’

"Everything that’s happened since has only increased my admiration for our pupils. What a time they’ve had – yet still they’re smiling, laughing, learning, full of life, curiosity, and enthusiasm.

"My other comment was, ‘I am delighted to be part of this fantastic school and I fully intend to make the most of being in this incredible place.'

“Bryanston is a school unlike any other. The care and attention given to the development of the strengths and personalities of all pupils is quite remarkable. I am honoured to be given the opportunity to protect, promote and harness such a unique and inspiring educational philosophy – especially at a time when the School is beginning to prepare for its centenary in just a few years’ time. I am looking forward to working with the entire Bryanston community as we collectively look to fulfil the School’s aspirations and ambitious plans for the future.”
