Stephen Williams was the School’s Director of Music, responsible for the strategic development and direction of music at Bryanston. During his time at Bryanston, Stephen conducted the Bryanston Choral Society, Symphony Orchestra and the Saint Nicolas Choir as well as founding the Bryanston Music Education Conference in 2019.
Before joining Bryanston in 2018, Stephen spent 20 years as a freelance singer and conductor. In 2006 he was appointed Director of Music to one of the UK’s most prestigious music departments at Uppingham School. Stephen has also directed the BBC Daily Service Singers, been Musical Director of Scotland’s national choir, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus and of York’s Minster Chamber Choir. He has conducted a choir of 1000 singers for a Channel 4 documentary, was Take That’s tour backing group and has commissioned new works for many leading artists.
Outside of the classroom, Stephen is a committed mountaineer and hill runner having spent time in Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Bolivia, Peru as well as in the Alps and Pyrenees. He also enjoys reading new fiction and spends time watching Liverpool Football Club.
