Extra-curricular activities

There is an impressive range of extra-curricular activities within Design & Technology at Bryanston, which provides pupils with many exciting and memorable experiences. The following is a sample of some of the superb projects that the pupils have been involved in this year:

Greenpower Challenge

Run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and Siemens to promote engineering innovation in schools, this venture involves the design, manufacture and racing of an electric car. The ‘Bryanston Racing Team’ was founded in July 2011 and enjoys taking on its local and national rivals on the track!

GUITAR MAKING

Nearly 20 pupils designed and made their own electric guitar this year – a demanding but hugely rewarding activity.

Wood turning

Pupils gain the experience of working with wood-turning lathes to produce high-quality wooden bowls, candle holders and other decorative items.

Jewellery

Pupils have the opportunity to design and create a wide range of different types of jewellery, using a variety of techniques.

Self-directed work

We offer ‘games’ and ‘ weekend’ workshops throughout the year in which pupils are able to come in and work on self-directed project work of their own. We are always delighted to see so many pupils use this time to produce some exceptional work.
