Groups and ensembles

The breadth of music-making facilities and support available to pupils provides them with the flexibility and opportunities to experience a variety of musical genres, whether through performing as part of a group or listening to their fellow pupils at one of the regular concerts.

The main instrumental groups are the large Symphony Orchestra, a specialist String Chamber Orchestra, a large Concert Band and an outstanding 20-piece Dance Band. A Rhythm and Blues Band is a more intermediate group and a Soul Band is a smaller well established group. Smaller groups include a guitar group, percussion group, flute group, clarinet group, pop strings, many chamber trios and quartets and numerous pupil bands. Bryanston has a strong choral tradition and a quarter of pupils sing in one of the school’s six choirs: Combined Choir open to pupils from across the school; Amaris Choir made up from girls in C and D; Allegri Choir made up from girls in B, A3 and A2 and boys from all year groups; Chamber Choir, which then also splits into the Advanced Vocal Ensemble (all girls) and the Male Voice Choir and finally a small 'specialist' choir.
